Spinal Cord Transcutaneous Stimulation Effect on Blood Pressure in Acute Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
About this trial
This trial is including individuals with acute spinal cord injuries (within 7-30 days of injury) to test the effect of transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation (TSCS) on blood pressure. TSCS is a technique for stimulating the spinal cord via surface stimulation to modify spinal cord function. If included, participants will undergo two days of stimulation mapping followed by two days of orthostatic tests (lying on a bed that starts out flat and then moved into an upright seated position by raising the head of bed by 90° and dropping the base of the bed by 90° from the knee) one day with TSCS and one with sham stimulation. Final testing of blood pressure and orthostatic symptoms will be performed after 2 weeks.
