- Participants that will receive epidural stimulation must:
- have a prior implantation of a Medtronic spinal cord epidural stimulation array
- use intermittent catheterization for bladder emptying.
- All participants must:
- have one of the following ASIA impairment scale (AIS):
- AIS A: complete; no feeling or movement below the injury
- AIS B: incomplete; have some feeling, but no movement, below the injury
- AIS C: incomplete; at least some feeling and mostly weak movement below the injury
- AIS D: incomplete; at least some feeling and, some weak but mostly stronger movement below the injury)
- have a neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction.
- be between the ages of 18 and 70 years old.

- have a spinal cord injury for at least 1 year.
- have paralysis in the legs and have at least half of key muscles below the neurological level of injury with a motor strength testing score less than 2/5.
- be able to participate in study exercises 1-2 hours per day and commit for 1 year training program.
- be between the ages of 19 and 55 years.
