Implementing a Decision Support Tool to Prevent Community-Acquired Pressure Injury in Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) in the Spinal Cord Injury Clinic

About this trial

This trial is enrolling 808 veterans with spinal cord injury to test the effect of the Community-Acquired Pressure Injury Prevention Field Implementation Tool (CAPP-FIT) on skin health. If included, participants will complete an online survey that identifies their specific risks and suggests preventive actions. Final evaluation of skin health will be performed after 3 years.

    - The CAPP-FIT intervention will be implemented at a site with RA facilitation and at other sites without RA facilitation (site will determine it's own clinic workflow for CAPP-FIT). - Participants will complete an automated survey that identifies their individual risk factors for pressure injuries and recommends specific preventive actions. - The survey results and recommended actions are shared with providers through a report in the electronic health record. - Providers will use these recommendations to create customized preventive strategies for each participant, addressing their unique risk factors for pressure injuries. - Final evaluation of skin health will be performed after 3 years.
