Intensive Motor Rehabilitation With Technology for Patients With Central Neurological Disease

About this trial

This trial is enrolling individuals with recent (> 3 mos) spinal cord injury or stroke to test the effect of intensive motor rehabilitation. If included, participants will receive either 3 weeks of intensive rehabilitation followed by 9 months of standard care or 9 months standard care followed by 3 weeks of intensive rehabilitation. Final testing will be performed after 9 months.

    Additionally, participants must
    be able to initiate movements against gravity
    NOT have severe visual impairment, communication, cognitive and language formation problems
    be at least 3 months post discharge from hospital/rehabilitation center, living at home

    Details

    - Participants will receive either 1) 3 weeks of intensive rehabilitation followed by 9 months standard care or 2) 9 months standard care followed by 3 weeks of intensive rehabilitation. - Intensive training includes cardiovascular fitness training, goal-oriented training, physiotherapy with and without advanced technology and self-management. - Final assessment will be performed after 9 months.
